{"id":117609,"date":"2023-08-16T11:40:17","date_gmt":"2023-08-16T09:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/handbuch\/working-with-the-designer\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T17:12:40","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T15:12:40","slug":"working-with-the-designer","status":"publish","type":"handbuch","link":"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/en\/handbuch\/polysun-designer\/getting-started\/working-with-the-designer\/","title":{"rendered":"Working with the Designer"},"content":{"rendered":"<section id=\"res-image-text-boxes-block_ff736d139f4eaa231fc95990105b70a4\" class=\"res-image-text-boxes py-5\" data-aos=\"res-downIncoming\">\n    <div class=\"row row-cols-sm-1 row-cols-md-1\">\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n                <div class=\"col-sm mb-4\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n                        <div class=\"postBox rounded-corners mouseover-scale h-100 promoBox  position-relative\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n                            <div class=\"postContent  no-image\">\n\t                            <p class=\"title style-auto\"><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This function is only available from the <strong>Polysun Designer<\/strong> user level onwards.<\/p>\n\n                            <\/div>\n                        <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t                <\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Designer version allows system schemes of existing system diagrams to be edited and enables the user to the create altogether new system schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Edit-System-Schemes\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Edit System Schemes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To do so the user should start from an existing template that he\/she will add to the project as a system diagram (see <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/en\/handbuch\/basic-structure-of-polysun-user-help\/polysun-menu-bar\/system-diagram\/\/#Add-Template-to-Project\" data-type=\"handbuch\" data-id=\"70835\">Add template to project<\/a><\/mark>). The user can then delete components of the system diagram, add new components, connect components to one another and untie existing connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Add-New-Components\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Add New Components<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the desired component in the component symbol bar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the design area in the working area. The desired component will be placed in the working area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Double-click on the component you previously placed in the working area; a&nbsp;&nbsp; dialogue box opens and components can then be edited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Select-Components\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Select Components<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select a component by simply clicking on it; four dots appear around the component to confirm the selection. To select multiple components keep the Shift button pressed; select all components using the Ctrl-A buttons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Move-or-Rotate-Components\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Move or Rotate Components<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A previously selected component can be moved on the design area dragging it while holding the left mouse-button pressed. Keep the Ctrl button pressed to move the selected elements using the arrow buttons. Right-click on an element to display additional functions to adjust or rotate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Delete-Components\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Delete Components<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select a component by simply clicking on it; four dots appear around the component to confirm the selection;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click on the selected component;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Delete from the selection window \u2013 the component will be deleted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Connect-Components\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Connect Components<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on the square connection of a component. The connection will be marked in red.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the connection of a different component. The two components will be connected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tip<\/strong>: if connecting two components that can only be joined by means of a pipe Polysun automatically displays the required pipe. This allows the user to design large systems in a time-saving and efficient manner. \u2013 To add a curve click on a given point of a pipe while holding the left mouse-button pressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Untie-Connections\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Untie Connections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Double-click on existing connections (black dots) to untie them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Create-System-Scheme-from-Scratch\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Create System Scheme from Scratch<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The command Create new system diagram in the system diagram menu enables the user to create a system diagram from scratch starting with an empty page. Components can be added and connected as described above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tip<\/strong>: it is advisable to begin by editing existing system diagrams and reviewing default settings. The user should proceed step by step and carry out frequent simulations to better understand how changes are made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Particular-Features-of-Given-Components\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Particular Features of Given Components<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tank: if you wish to place a new tank you can choose between \u201cDefine a new tank\u201d and \u201cChoose a tank from the catalog\u201d. This last option involves the selection of an existing tank from the catalog. Choosing \u201cDefine a new tank\u201d a new window opens in which the tank can be configured. First the basic structure of the tank is defined. After confirming with OK the tank is displayed on the design area. Finally the tank can be further edited by double-clicking on it (see <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/en\/handbuch\/basic-structure-of-polysun-user-help\/polysun-main-window-graphical-user-interface\/\/#Component\/Controller-Dialogue-Boxes\" data-type=\"handbuch\" data-id=\"70843\">Polysun dialogue boxes and catalogs<\/a><\/mark>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deleting a tank the temperature sensors are also deleted. When a new tank is placed the temperature sensors should be reset in the relevant controllers, i.e. the entries should be redefined.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Controllers: when placing a controller the user should select the most suitable one. Here too it is advisable to take a cue from the default settings of the templates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heat generator: boiler or heat pump, with or without integrated pump.
