It has two main advantages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Parametrize input data which allows multiple simulation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Necessary results output based on the time steps.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to use the Log and Parametrize feature, you need to open the menu \u201cOptions\u201d, then choose \u201cSettings\u201d and under the tab-sheet \u201cAdvanced\u201d enable the Log and Parametrize feature. Then you should define the folder where you would like to save the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image258-1-996x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72150\" style=\"width:582px;height:598px\" width=\"582\" height=\"598\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure: enabling the Log and Parametrize function in Polysun<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u2018Parametrizing Wizard\u2019 is divided into 4 parts: input data, output data, period and choice of output data presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Parametrize\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Parametrize<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Input data the required combinations of the system configurations can be defined manually. For each input data several single values or a range of values can be defined. The single values are separated with a semicolon, e.g. 3;5. A range can be defined by [lowest value]:[difference between each value]:[highest value], e.g. 3:2:7. If several input data have been selected, all combinations of input data can be simulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s take as an example solar thermal system with different collector tilt angle (range between 30\u00b0 and 60\u00b0 with a step of 5\u00b0).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image259-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72155\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure: example of the collector tilt angle parameter input as a range of values&nbsp;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then the \u2018System diagram results\u2019 can be ticked in the fourth part of \u2018Parametrizing Wizard\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally you can start your simulation by clicking on \u2018Start Multiple Simulation\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image260-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72159\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure: settings of the parametrizing Wizard<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the simulation is completed, you can go to the folder defined previously and open the last saved folder with the simulation data for each time step \u2018VariantResultSummary\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results can be evaluated more precisely graphically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/figure182-1024x471.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72163\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure: example of the simulation results presented graphically<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Log\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Log<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second option is to log defined parameters and time frames based on the time steps. It can be done for one or all system diagrams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The required variables can be defined in the \u2018Output data\u2019 by clicking on \u2018Add output data\u2019. The selected data is registered for every time step of the simulation in the log files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an example we can choose the following parameters for a solar thermal system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Average outdoor temperature (Tamb);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outflow temperature of the collector;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Layer 3 in the storage tank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image261-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72167\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure: definition of the log output parameters in the dialog window<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then the time period shall be defined in the \u201cPeriod\u201d tab, by clicking on \u201cAdd time period\u201d and choosing the appropriate one. In the defined time period all simulation time steps are logged. As a default value May 1<sup>st <\/sup>of the current year is used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image262-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72171\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure: adding the log time period<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result file will contain all time step values (the smallest time step can be 1 second). This feature helps to do a more detailed simulation analysis and it can be compared with the measured data on the field. The results of the simulation are saved in the previously defined folder. Here all logged data files can be found. You can take the last folder and then do the detailed analysis of the available data. With the given data you can sketch a graph which will show how the chosen parameters change during the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then you can start your simulation by clicking on the \u2018Start Multiple Simulation\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The logged data for the chosen parameters can be found in the pre-defined folder under the name \u2018Timesteps_variation_1.csv\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this file the data is given for the whole year for each time step period for the chosen parameters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image263-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72175\" style=\"width:714px;height:526px\" width=\"714\" height=\"526\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure: example of the log data of the chosen parameters for each time step of the chosen year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to make a more detailed analysis a graph can be designed based on the given parameters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velasolaris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/figure186-1024x673.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72179\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure: graphical presentation of the logged data<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the last part of the \u2018Parametrizing Wizard\u2019 the presentation option of the output data can be defined. The following options are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Table: The data output format of the \u2018Parametrizing Wizard\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Data output format<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Description<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>\u2018Time step logging\u2019<\/strong><\/td><td>the results of the defined parameters in the \u2018Output data\u2019 for each time step during the defined \u2018Period\u2019<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>\u2018System diagram results\u2019 and \u2018Monthly diagram results\u2019<\/strong><\/td><td>the most important yearly or monthly values correspondingly for the given system. The same values are shown also in the \u2018System results\u2019. The system diagram results are saved in log files&nbsp; VariantResultSummary.csv or Monthly_ VariantResultSummary.csv correspondingly.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>\u2018Component results\u2019 \u2018and \u2018Monthly component results\u2019<\/strong><\/td><td>yearly and monthly values correspondingly for components of the system.
